Toner Reset Instructions for Brother TN-660, TN-630

Issue:

The toner cartridge's reset gear did not properly connect and reset the printer's New Toner Sensor. After the toner cartridge is placed, the reset gear will only operate once, and the position of the gear cannot be reset after that. A manual reset technique is required to reset the Toner Life Display.

There should be no pauses between button presses because timing is crucial.

Solution:

DCP/MFC Series:

To manually reset the toner life, go through the steps listed below.

1. Open the front door to the printer.

2. "Front cover is open" should appear on the printer screen.

3. On the printer's front panel, press the "clear" button.

4. The printer will prompt you to "Replace Drum?"

5. Instead of pressing 1 at this point, write "*00" into the keyboard. Zero zero is a star.

6. "Accepted" will appear on the screen. Close the door and the low toner message will be reset.

HL Series:

To manually reset the toner life, go through the steps listed below.

1. Open the front door to the printer.

2. Shut down the printer.

3. Restart the printer while holding down the GO button.

4. Press and hold the GO button until all four LEDs light up. All of the LEDs will be turned off.

5. Press and hold the GO button for two seconds. The three LEDs (toner, drum, and paper) will all be solidly lit.

6. Press the GO button a total of five times.

7. The paper light will blink.

8. The toner's end-of-life state has now been reset. Shut the front door.
