Installation Chips on compatible CF258X / CF258A

 Step 1. Determine the type of structure the Original cartridge has.


Please check the chip location first; there are two chip slot structures (A & B) as shown below. 





If your cartridge has structure A, please follow the direction of Structure A in step 2. If your cartridge has structure B, please follow the direction of Structure B in step 2



Step 2. Remove the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) chip from the cartridge.

Procedure:


1.  Remove the empty OEM cartridge from the printer. Put it backside upwards on a table. Find the chip position as shown in image below.


2. Use tweezers to remove the solder joint that has the chip placed on it.


3. Clamp the OEM chip with tweezers and remove it in the direction shown below.

Structure B)


Tools Required:

Procedure:

1. Pry out the OEM chip by using a file.



a) Find the chip position, then use the file to align the glue position.


b) Tilt the file downward as shown, push it inward while slicing the glue position.


c) When the file reaches the end of the chip slot., pry the chip out.


2. Clean the back glue on the chip

a) Check the black glue of the chip.

b) Grip the chip by tweezers, clean the black glue by using the file.



Step 3. Assembling the chip on the new cartridge.


1. Insert the chip into the chip slot of new cartridge in the direction shown below.




2. Push the chip to the end of the slot. The chip is installed in the correct position if the middle line can match the cartridge rib as shown in the picture below. 



3. Please install the chip as above picture. The toner cartridge cannot be recognized by the printer if the chip is not installed in the correction position or direction.


Important Notice: Due to the new cartridge using the old OEM chip, the printer will display a toner low message. Ignore that warning. You may print until you notice lower density on your prints.
